BYD is set to expand its New Zealand line-up with the launch of four new vehicles in the coming months.

This landmark expansion of BYD’s range includes the introduction of the all-electric ATTO 1 and ATTO 2, as well as the SEALION 5 and SEALION 8 DM-I Plug In Hybrid models, that will make their New Zealand debuts in early 2026.

With sales surpassing one million, the ATTO 1 has garnered worldwide interest following its launches as the SEAGULL in China and DOLPHIN SURF in Europe. Designed as a city focused EV, the ATTO 1 is a compact hatch, perfectly suited for New Zealand's city streets. It delivers a sharp, modern look and offers nimble handling without the premium price tag.

For those after something slightly larger the ATTO 2 is a compact SUV that blends everyday practicality with advanced battery technology. Packed with features, it is designed for drivers who value versatility, safety, and style.

Meanwhile, the SEALION 5 is perfectly positioned for customers seeking value without compromising on the features BYD is renowned for. A mid-sized SUV powered by BYD’s advanced dual-mode intelligent (DM-i) technology, the SEALION 5 combines the efficiency of an electric platform with extended range and the flexibility of a petrol-hybrid drivetrain.

The highly anticipated SEALION 8 will be BYD’s largest SUV in the New Zealand market. This seven-seat DM -I plug-in hybrid blends bold exterior styling with a refined, tech-forward interior.
